About Us:
Community Food Share is a non-profit foodbank that has been serving Dundas and Stormont Counties for over 30 years. Starting as a smaller Dundas County Food Bank, the registered charity since expanded its scope to offer a wide range of services including, 2 fully operational food banks located in Morrisburg and Winchester, plus a satellite location in Finch. Community Food Share also provides additional services which include, tax prep assistances, community gardens, community advocate, growing futures, and partnering with the North Dundas Christmas Fund, South Dundas Christmas Exchange, and Heat for the Holidays.
Position Overview:
The Director of Operations serves as the chief point of contact of Community Food Share, responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and overall management of the organization. The Director of Operations will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to fulfill the food bank’s mission and ensure long-term sustainability within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and objectives for the Director of Operations include, but are not limited to, deliverables in the following areas:
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Lead the organization in developing and implementing strategic plans aligned with the organizations mission
- Serve as the public face of the food bank, representing the organization to the community, media, donors, and partnersFundraising & Development
- Execute ongoing fundraising strategies to support operations and growth
Cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and government funders
Operations & Financial Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including food acquisition, distribution, and compliance
- Manage the organization’s budget, financial reporting, and fiscal health in collaboration with the Board Treasurer
Board Relations
- Work in partnership with the Board to set goals, policies, and ensure good governance
- Provide regular updates and engage the Board in strategic decision-making
Staff & Volunteer Management
- Lead and support a team of staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven work culture
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluations of staff and volunteers
Qualifications:
- Independent, highly engaged, passionate self-starter
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a non-profit or social services sector
- Strong fundraising and donor relations experience with tangible results
- Experience in managing financial and operational oversight of a department, team or office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel, Power point, Clouds
- Effective time management skills
- College or University preferred; however, relevant experience will be considered in lieu of post-secondary education.
This is a full-time role that will require the delegate to operate the team under non-traditional work hours, there will be some evening and weekend work required.
